Inherent temptation that I could say anything holding a microphone
Could easily mention your last indiscretion and don’t think it isn’t well known
The Press have hit on dire times with cut-backs ‘cross the board
The copywriters’ keyboard no more ‘mightier than sword’
What do poets have for breakfast? A smorgasbord of words?
An array of prepositions? A buffet of nouns and verbs?
‘What’s an honest Aussie breakfast?’ was my poet’s contemplation
So began my observation of our national mastication
It went much better in rehearsal; No really, much better I swear!
I was confident, articulate, did comically gesticulate when none of you people were there
I adore Poetic Licence and I hear it’s all the rage
So don’t believe a word I say, especially while on stage
